Microsoft’s redemption starts here. The biggest news is that Windows 8.1 brings back the sanctified Start button (not completely though). The new and – we’re not entirely convinced – improved Start button is now represented by the new Windows logo and is basically a list menu to your start screen. Multitasking is made a whole lot easier with 8.1. Users can now run up to eight apps side by side on their desktop. Search functions on the 8.1 have been fine-tuned to include results from the desktop, online results and apps. Plus, users can now have animated files as their Start screen background. Start creating those GIFs.
