School students to celebrate Mangalyaan success!!

Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to celebrate the successful entry of Mangalyaan into the orbit of Mars, schools in the city organized programmes to make the day memorable.

Schools showed live telecast of the Prime Minister's address and children were told the importance of Mars Orbit Mission. They drew pictures and prepared posters on India's tryst with the red planet.

"We completely agree with Prime Minister Narendra Modiji. It is definitely a proud moment for all Indians and we must celebrate it. We had our exam today, but after it was over we watched the graphic movements of Mangalyaan in computer," said Bhavesh Tripathy, a Class XI student of DAV Public School, Chandrasekharpur.

Students of Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV)-1 turned the occasion into a celebration of scientific temper. Over 2,000 students watched live telecast of Modi's address on big projectors. "Students were really inspired by Modi speech. They exchanged their thoughts on the historic milestone and discussed making a career in space science," said principal S K Behura.

Tiny tots of DAV Public School, Pokhariput, were taught about the mars mission and shown a model of Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle. Using videos and illustrations, teachers explained the concepts in simple language, which made it easy for students to understand. Students also asked questions about Mars and Mangalyaan.

Subham Subudhi articulated the understanding of students when he said the posters and videos helped create awareness on the mission on which most of them were ignorant.

"It was really a matter of pride that India did it in first attempt and became the fourth country to achieve the feat. It was the cheapest mission, which we came to know from Modi," said Subham, a Class VIII student of KV-1.
