Google had made the changes to the regional search page name from Palestinian Territories to Palestine in May, Washington Post reports.
According to the report, the hackers suggested changing the title of Israel on Google Maps to Palestine, which would be a 'revolution' and asked visitors to listen to R&B singer Rihanna and 'be cool'.
Meanwhile, Google said that some of its users visiting the Palestinian regional search page google.ps were being redirected to a different site but assured that Google services for the google.ps domain were not hacked adding that the site was in contact with the organization responsible for managing the domain name to resolve the problem.
